The Economic and Social Council

Lok Sabha is composed of representatives of the people chosen by direct election on the basis of the adult suffrage. The maximum strength of the House envisaged by the Constitution is 552, which is made up by election of upto 530 members to represent the States, upto 20 members to represent the Union Territories and not more than two members of the Anglo-Indian Community to be nominated by the Hon'ble President, if, in his/her opinion, that community is not adequately represented in the House. The total elective membership is distributed among the States in such a way that the ratio between the number of seats allotted to each State and the population of the State is, so far as practicable, the same for all States.

A recent landmark verdict by the Hon’ble Supreme Court established Right to Privacy as a Fundamental Right. Supreme Court, in its decision, stated that Right to Privacy is guaranteed to all the citizens of the country by virtue of it being enshrined in the sacred words of the constitution. However, the implications of this revolutionizing decision stand in a stark contrast with some currently enacted laws, the most significant of them being Aadhar’s legal status, Homosexuality and Abortion Laws. Furthermore, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has not presented a rigid legal definition of Right to Privacy, which makes its execution as a Right even more strenuous. A comprehensive and intensive deliberation on the definition of Privacy and its consequences as a Right is crucially needed, because this momentous decision can only reach its full extent when we carve the way to its effective implementation

The General Assembly (GA) is the main deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN. Decisions on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority. Decisions on other questions are by simple majority. Each of the 193 member states of the United Nations has equal representation. The Assembly has adopted its own rules of procedure and elects its President for each session.

One of the greatest consequences of receding Arctic Ice will be the opening up of the Arctic Ocean to worldwide shipping - a transformation comparable to what the Panama and Suez Canals brought about. Developing international cooperation is crucial for the just and safe use of this opportunity, preventing it from turning into a massive ecological and economic disaster. ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council), one of the six main organs of the United Nations established by the UN Charter. ECOSOC’s power to initiate policy making is limited to only making recommendations for the General Assembly, still it is the UN’s largest and most complex subsidiary body, In which Decisions are taken by simple majority vote. The committee encourages universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms as well as oversees the implementation of the internationally agreed development goals. ECOSOC’s work is performed in functional charge on topics such as human rights, population, social development, statistics, and science and technology. Consists of 54 member states which are elected by the UNGA for running three-year terms, with terms ending on 31 December of the third year.

The major breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence has led to even smarter machines and devices, capable of performing manual tasks with splendid accuracy. The field has not experienced any descent and is envisioning even greater capabilities, inching closer to the level of human cognition. What is the way forward for the international community to attain the ambitious UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals? There will never be a more fruitful time to decide a prosperous and safer future for everyone. With deliberations and policy framework, we can ensure the use of AI for humane and more useful purposes.

The general secretary of the IITG Model United Nations, Paridhi is a cheerful person with an aura of innocence, yet she manages to hold the impulsive team together. Paridhi’s contribution to this team over the past two years is unparalleled and the team is blessed to have a such an amazing person among them.

From being the Coordinator of Logistics to USG Administration, for three years, Saurabh has been a pillar among the many, for the team. This hard working chap, with a profound knowledge of international relations and political dynamics has a zest for expression and writing. His understanding of working a team makes him a leader one would follow. Work aside, he loves Sufi Poetry and Classical rock - hand him a guitar, and you wouldn't be disappointed.

Having been a core in the International Press, this man is the literary and contemplative dynamite of the team. Reserved and polite, he may seem, Krishna is the go-to-guy for anything you want to 'think' about. His love for writing is unmatched, ability for it uncontested. Technically and academically gifted, he loves research. One of the most fun people, once you know him well enough, he has a passion for science-fiction and high-fantasy, explaining his love for anime.

A Logistics and Public Relations maestro, Shobhit gets work done.A multi-tasker as he is, he is the man in the hour of need. An avid MUNner, he takes great interest in national politics and domestic debate. A guitarist and player of chess and, as he likes to improve at being in his free time, Mr. Do-it-all has more to him than meets the eye. And ladies beware - his chivalry is smoother than a satin wipe.

Working behind the scenes, Vishal is the one who makes things seem easy. He's been involved in many things, ranging from research to creatives, during his time in the team. The extremely friendly and caring guy that he is, also makes him a fun guy to hang out with. A very enthusiastic writer, he is quite a linguist himself - knowing German and little Danish too. The love for music is what keeps his spirits up.

A goldmine of abstruse and transcendental ideas, Sanchit is a true mechanical engineer (without the girl issues though). Gifted with an exceptional dexterity for creative thinking, he’s ingenuity is strikingly visible in his work. Whether it's his intelligent articles or his academic tasks. A big guy by all standards, he is a basketball fan and tries his hand with the ball from time to time. A passionate music lover, he has a knack for playing the violin as well.

The undisputed quizzing champion of IIT Guwahati, Shubhang is not someone you'd want to challenge when it comes to knowing facts and figures. He also has a strange urge to genetically modify stuff. His keen interest in football is reflected in the way he idolises Lionel Messi and thoroughly enjoys classic rock and Led Zeppelin. There's definitely so much more to him than what meets the eye. Above all, the quality one would admire the most is how he'll always go out of his way to help someone.

Vijayant, the astronomy wizard of our college, is quite the ladies man. You're sure to be at the edge of your seats when this one strums a guitar. He's really one to stand out in a crowd (given how tall he is, of course). A self-proclaimed weirdo, Vijayant plays a wide spectrum of sports skilfully, football and tennis for starters. Also, he has a black belt in Karate so you kinda don't want to mess with him.

A tech and robotics geek, Shwetank is an exemplary engineer. Brilliant with the keyboard, whether it's writing insightful articles or running hefty algorithms. His profound grasp of world politics makes him an invaluable part of our team. However, he is not all computer and codes. He’s a voracious Sci-Fi reader and has a taste for thrillers, especially with plots centered around narcotics. When stumbled onto doors leading to ingenious agendae, he's the one who knocks.

The team's newbie, Sangam's surprisingly extensive research with agendae has been enriching to the discussions that followed. Lazier than you could ever be, his devil-may-care attitude makes him an accidental clown. With a newfound zeal to explore himself, he involves himself in whatever opportunity pops up. The typical cricket fan, he also takes a lot of interest in biking.

A new yet valuable addition to the team, Sujal is the guy for every job. Whether it’s research for the agendae or strategic extensive branding. Seemingly a bit naive at first glance, he has a vast experience as an administrator. His dedication towards fulfilling every task thrown at him is unparalleled. An avid cricket and anime fan, he has a good hand with the ball (no pun intended).

A god in machine learning and the proudest Delhite, Vrishank (Bro) is a part of the Webops team, and is a surprisingly eccentric person who loves to procrastinate. His puns aren't punny at all so one should steer clear of him in social gatherings to avoid mental trauma. His best talents include swimming, coding and eating a lot of food. He likes reading a lot and has a peculiar interest in the suez canal .Generosity and politeness make up for his lack of humour.

A programming genius, Vedant “the Nice guy” Chakravadhanula a.k.a. “VC” is a part of the Webops team of the IITG MUN, and is probably the most humble person you’ll ever meet. He has an amazing sense of humour which entices both men and women. Speaking of women, Vedant has a lot of them apparently. Vedant has a striking resemblance to the legendary musician, Snoop Dogg, physically and they share the same passions too. Despite of that the team would be incomplete without him. Vedant likes going an extra mile everyday, especially on Wednesdays.

You wouldn't want to miss out on a dance performance when Prerna is heading the show. Her paintings and artwork are a feast to the eyes which is clearly reflected in the posters we share. In stark contrast, she is also a champ on the volleyball field. Prerna, an aspiring designer, is sure to be the one to light up the room with her warm fuzzy sense of humour.

An imaginative introvert, Nawaz is a vital member of the UI/UX team. Striving to be an UX designer, his inventiveness as the same is prominent in his work, especially in designing our website. A fierce football fan, you can bet it all on him to headshot you in Counter Strike. Cats serve as his daily supplement of cuteness and he is fanatic about bikes. He loves Bikes. He really loves Bikes.
